The Red Sox came to Texas having the best record in baseball. Did that intimidate the Rangers? Not for a second. Our lead off batter was Ian Kinsler and what did he do with the very first pitch from the Red Sox? HOMER! Boom. In the second inning Boston got a couple of good hits and scored one run that made it even. In the 4th inning with the bases loaded with 2 outs Craig Gentry steps up to the plate. He hits a chopper to the third baseman, who throws (not the best) to the first baseman, Napoli (ya, I'm glad we traded him) who misses the ball letting 2 runs score with an error on him. It's now 3-1.
Not a ton happens (unless you count the cheeseburger and cotton candy I buy and eat or the incident with the flask getting taken away from the drunks behind us) until the bottom of the 8th. Cruz strikes out, Mitch Mooreland gets a single and then Craig Gentry steps up to the plate. He fouls some off and holds off on a couple balls and then on the 5th pitch he hits a bomb to left field! Everyone cheers (except for Kenny, he was more interested in the peanuts). There wasn't much left of the game and no other runs happen. We went to a great game and had a lot of fun. We (as in Mike) drove back to College Station and got in at 1:30am. I would do it all over again though (and I might). It was a great day for baseball and for the Rangers to beat those Red Sox. I am looking forward to more Ranger games this season.
